Mark Chesham - VAT and IPT consultant

Mark Chesham graduated from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1984 with a degree in Politics and Sociology.

After doing a variety of jobs (which ranged from advising on energy saving/efficiency schemes to working as an extra for the BBC), he joined HM Customs & Excise in 1987. After spending 6 months in Liverpool and Chester, Mark joined City VAT Office where he worked as a control officer in a specialist insurance team.

In 1990, Mark joined KPMG (Peat Marwick McLintock as they were at the time), initially in their Cardiff office before moving to London and then, in 1994, to KPMG in Bristol.

Mark left KPMG in 1999 to join PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was part of a national Financial Services team, working out of the Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh and latterly London offices.

Mark left PricewaterhouseCoopers in February 2005 to set up his own VAT and IPT consultancy practice.

Mark is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Insurance Institute of London. He is also a member of ABI working parties on insurance premium taxes.

 VAT Standard Rate to rise

 The standard rate of VAT will rise to 20% from 4 January 2011.
